Default Steering column fix price

I have a 92 camaro rs it has tilt steering, well when I bought the car about two months ago nothing was wrong with my steering wheel. I needed to have the car inspected before i could make it legal. Well, the man that inspected my car was bout 250 pounds and used my steering wheel to get out
of the car, I watched him break my tilt steering, but couldn't prove it so I couldn't do anything to make them fix it. Does anyone know how much it
cost to fix the steering column where the tilt bar is to
fix the tilt steering? I need feed back asap, thanks

It will a depend on what broke. If the column need torn all the way down figure 4-6 hours. There are several bolt inside the column that can be very hard to get out if thats what broke. If its the upper pivoting section it would take 2ish hours. If you are buying parts from a dealer they can get pretty pricey. You can go with used part but your going to need to pay someonr to strip down a used column to get the parts.
