starts but wont run
I have an 86 with TPI,and it has been sitting for appx 2 years. I charging battery to crank and start but it will not.
Thanks for the info so far, what I found out is the engine cranks and spark is good... but no fuel. I held the valve open on the fuel rail on the Passenger side and had a friend crank it over, No fuel came out of the rail. All fuses are good in the fuse box. I dont know where the relays are for the fuel pump, I do Not hear the pump prime up when the key is turn on. I saw three 3, relays on the fire wall on the drivers side in the engine compartment, is one of them it? again no fuel pump noise from tank and no pressure at the rail.
I just need to know where else to check first before I drop the tank, even though I was told a new pump was installed.
Thanks

could just be from 2 year old gas if its just been sittin for so long with the same gas in it. u could try some dry gas if nothin else has worked or some injector cleaner. how is it TBI and crossfire injection?...im pretty sure theyre not the same at all. is it the 2.8?
no it is a v eight... with a large spider looking intake manifold. It was parked when it started running rough, I will go into the fuel system first tomorrow and check there first... thanks

Pretty sure cross fire was only one year, 84? I do know they did not make a cross fire the same year they made the TPI. Cross fire is just two TBI, it looks like duel four barrel carbs.
Sorry but to me that is just funny, Why not just post, I know nothing about tuning fuel injection so carbs are better.
switch to carb tbi sucks the grl has a 92 rs 305 ripped that thing right off they suck they rob u of horse power! and they gum up quick
for 305 holley 500cfm or 350 650cfm

at the time before you parked it, did you ever run the car below the quarter tank level, in most cases the gasoline in the tank is what serves the purpose of keeping the pump cool, if you ran it constantly under 1/4 tank, then chances are that the pump is fried, what you can also do is check the wiring, while it was sitting something could of gotten up in there and chewed up the wires, or the wires could just be corroded and broken, check that before anything else, because i have a feeling that it is probably the wires going to the pump.
