Will any 82-92 Camaro starter work on the 305 motor? I have a 91 Camaro 5.0 starter but it won't fit on my older 5.0 block. I not sure if maybe the block is a Camaro block or a block from another mid to late 80s block. It is a 305 5.0 FLAT TAPPET cam block. Does anyone know what starter might work on this motor? It has a larger flywheel than my 91 305 but the same bolt pattern as my 91.

Correct me anyone if I am wrong but I think the '78 and before 305 blocks had 2 pce rear main seal meaning the fywheel is different, so I would guess that as long as the flywheel is the same then it would work.

Does a 305 have a 153 or 168 tooth count on the flywheel? I'm looking on Jeg's and they have aftermarket starters for Chevy's with 153/or 168 tooth count. Do you think maybe that my old motor has a 153 and the new motor has a 168 thats why it doesn't fit?

I got it. It was a 87 G20 van starter I needed...
