Starter? Completly stupid
I am very disappointed in GM, how the heck could they design a car that requires you to remove the exhaust to change a starter.
To simply change the starter you have to break the studs off the exhaust manifolds, then take of the manifolds and have them drilled and re studded, just so you can break the studs again next time it needs a starter.
That is completely fuc-ing stupid.
I am very quickly beginning to hate 3 gens.
To h-ll with emissions. If I have to pull those manifolds
just to change a starter they will never go on again.

Sorry for the vent. The new starter is in.
I still think it is stupid that I have to unbolt the exhaust.
Thankfully, the studs came out instead of breaking.
Im still not keeping that setup. I want headers and I want
that y-pipe moved.

That's not bad. The alternator in the wife's Merc. Mariner (same as Escape) is low mounted and needed to be replaced. You need to remove the passenger side drive axle, and lower the engine/cradle assembly somewhat to gain enough clearance to get it out. Quit yer whining!!! 
Luckily it was still covered by warranty, it's a 2.5 hour job. It's about a 10 minute job on the Camaro. That's progress for you.
Btw, did you try soaking the manifold head pipe nuts with PB Blaster and cooking with a torch? One trick when putting back together is to use brass nuts instead of steel, they'll come off easier.

to change the plugs on the newer 3.5L in the chargers and 300s you need to pull the upper intake
but for future reference if the stud breaks you can take a cutting wheel cut a slit in the side of the hole and go halfway through the stud then take some vice grips and squeeze the stud it should come right out then just got some new bolts
