Default Sputtering bad

Well i got my fuel pump replace December and the car has run great with out the gas cap because all my vac. lines are broke. Well a month ago i lost my gas cap and not until last week did i find a replacement. Well for mistake i tightened the cap and the car started to sputter bad, then i relized it was tightened so i took it off. Well the sputtering hasnt gone away. Can anyone tell me what to do or what it can be, cause this is not fun.

try to relieve the fuel pressure in the systemremove the fuel pump fuse, start the car and allow it to run out of fuel make sure it is out of fuel then replace the fuse see if that works
