Yeah, I definitely agree. If you have to buy a new engine, why not go with a 350? They're really common, and not much new. and if you end up going junk yarding, then have no fear, they're super common, so you should be able to find one with low miles.

+3, and better yet than the 3rd gen 350, I would go with an LT1. more power, just as common and probly about the same price depending on the engine.

the LT1 isn't as direct a drop in deal as a TPI 5.7 would be... the cooling system on the LT1 is a little more complex , and how did getting your oil changed turn into "you need a short block" ? get someone that knows what they are doing to look @ it , then make your decision.... sounds like someone is tring to make a quick buck off someone's ignorance (ignorance not supidity theyaredifferent).

i wouldnt trust walmart either, and just because your running one down doesnt mean you need a new block, there is 1000 different reasons that one might not be firing, as long as its stilll moving with the crank your good, and even if its not the only reason you ever need to replace a block is if its cracked.

well im not taking Wal-Marts 100% word for it, but it was a shock big time. My car has problems going 70+, when i shift to 5th i get it to max rpm on 4th or else it will just ride on 60 in 5th gear. I though it was doing that because i have a TBI and one of the injectors are dead (i know, my car is effed up) so thats why i though it was just not going on the highway, but its starting to make me think there might just be a dead cylinder, theres also a knock in the engine. I was thinking on just buying an exact same camaro, eith 305 or 350 and just swap engines, and anything else that i can find us of and sale the one i buy or just keep it for the hell of it.
I was think about this one actually: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-...QQcmdZViewItem
