Default Should I buy a camaro? Help please!!!

Im a 17 year old boy and looking to buy a car. I really like the Camaros 1988-1992. I was wondering what are some pros and cons about the car and are they nice cars to own? Im just curious and need some help deciding. Anything will help! Thanks.

In a nutshell... HECK YEAH! I have an 18 year old who for 4 years all I heard was MUSTANG blah blah blah...we ended up getting him a probe GT with body kit, 5 sp etc and he messed it up. Not wrecking it but throwing timing off. Well he wanted that car so thats why we got it to begin with and I told him if WE bought another car, it wasn't gonna be a ford. More importantly, it WAS going to be a camaro. He was ok with that after a few weeks but he wanted, like you, a 3rd generation. My first car was an 81 z28 and while he really liked it, he was set on the 3rd.

I ended up not only buying me another one earlier this year but bought him one too, a 95 to be specific. (I've been partial to the 4th gens for quite a while now) Its growed on him. So you will get better mechanical advice from the guys but none of us would be on here if we weren't proud camaro owners, ya know

They are reliable cars, because, well, small block chevy. The problem is, most 3rd gens (including their mustang counterparts) have been the unlucky chosen by kids who just have tore them up.

The facts are, you will be buying a car that is 20 years old, with more likely than not, 20 year old gaskets, drivtrain, valvetrain, and every other thing that turns to poop over that long of a time period. Not to mention most have been rode hard and put up wet, like I mentioned.

You may get lucky enough to find a decent/good one, like I did. Even so, I've had to put some major cash into mine. How much time and money are you willing to put into possible problems?

Well a brand new car isn't reliable and I am the mom lol I think the older ones are easier to work on before the computers came into play. Good luck! Oh and we got both of ours from craigslist after a lot of research and discussions with some owners.

Oh, and I suppose I should include the most important part: I wouldn't trade my camaro for the world. I mean, by now, my blood sweat and tears are in it. But I wouldn't have it any other way! They are absolutely beautiful cars and I love mine.

Camaros are the best cars!! Ever since a kid I wanted one and when I finally got it, its the best experience in the world to drive it. Drives better than my GMC s15 or my Honda accord.

I love my camaro in and out, aslong as you take care of your ride it will take car of you (almost all of the time).
