RE: should i
You could buy a 1991 RS with an L03/700R4 with minor body damage and new ring and pinion (you have to put em in, though.) for $300....
But seriously, what're they asking, and what condition is it in?

its funny you say that about the 1991 RS... because i was actually going to put posi and lower gears on it, but sh*t happens. by the way im getting $4000 for it from insurance.
anyways. it looks pretty clean from internet pictures but i will check it out on monday or something. hes asking $3800 which i think is a little much knowing that the car is just running off of its own inertia... but it has a sound system, exhaust, cat conv., air filter, etc.. im thinking yes buit talk him down to like $2800-3000

thats way to much. for reference I got my 91 5.7 z28 for $4k and i know i paid to much, but its also in near perfect condition, with a brand new 700R4 with 600 miles on it, the engine was rebuilt 3k ago and the car has a total of 110k on it. and he only reason i paid $4k for it was 1) because i saw it in my shop getting the new trans and the engine rebuild so i know he wasnt BS'ing about it, 2) trying to find another 5.7 in that good of condition within a decent distance to go look at it and test drive was almost impossible. I think for a 91 with a 5.0 you should be looking at $2500 TOPS, and it better be in amazing condition for that. if the engine isnt running then $2300 would even be asking a lot. and dont let him figure the cost of aftermarket parts, especially a sound system, into the price of the car.
