Default Shopping for a quality paint job

Hey ya'll, I'm planning on getting my 91 z28 painted soon and I'm shopping around for a quality paint job at a low price.

I'm in Roanoke, Va, but willing to drive a little. Can anybody recommend someone for the job?

Thanks!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

just remember you get what you pay for. if you spend $300, expect it to look like garbage and will probably wash off in a year. if you have any body experience or want to learn it and dont want to spend much, id suggest prepping the car yourself and then going to maaco. that means sanding, blocking, filling in dents and rust yourself, and making sure its clean before it gets there. they dont care whats on the surface when they start painting, they will go right over it

True, you need to take an honest look at what you have. A 91 that was used will most likely have little dings/dents waves, etc that should be addressed if you want it to look good. If there is no rust whatsoever you are in good shape, but keep in mind it is all about prep. Most likely it will take only a short period of time to shoot the car but way more time to prep. I disassembled my car; removed hood, doors, hatch, weather stripping first, then trailored it in, but I still have over 125 hours worth of work done (I did have some rust and a bent a-pillar). Disassembly, reassembly, prep/body probobly accounted for 80% of the bill.

Yeah thats true what you said about MAACO microkid, you have to tell them exactly what you want done and literally point out every ding and rust spot you want repaired. Lucky for me, I had heard about their rep and done the body work myself. After putting the replacement parts on the front, I only found one small ding on the door that needed to be filled before giving the car to them.

Good quality paint job and cheap don't belong in the same sentence. MAACO is great if you want it to look good for a couple of years. With minimal body work, expect to pay at least $1500-$2000 for a decent paint job. That's cheap. For every ding there is, the price goes up dramatically.
