Default security failsafe?

hey guys. its been a while since ive been on. ive been busy with work and finishing my car. now i have to help my friend with his car. its a 90 rs auto that had a 305 that was blown. we put in a 350 from his blazer and the blazer 350 computer with it. we cant get it to crank or turn on anything. some guy told us that it wont run without the 305 computer because of the ignition thing it has. and it cost 1000 bucks to bypass the ignition safty to make it run. is this true. or are there any sugesstions? i have to get his car out of my garage in less than a week or im in trouble.

you need to find out what resistor was in that old key then put a resistor in-line

The pass key decoder module is seperate from the ecm and lock cylinder. Changing the lock will do nothing to help. The module may not be able to comunicate with the ecm

The 350 also has a TBI? Put the 305 ecm back in and see if it starts. I am not + but you may just have to swap proms. Or some wiring to enable the crank and fuel pump and elimintae the VATS

What if you put in the 305 ECU and bought a programmable VATS bypass? These guys make a good one I have in my car: http://tpiparts.net/82_92_ecm_and_prom

If you go with this you'll also have to bypass the crank enable relay, which is a five minute job, easily explained.

If he used the 305 ECM there would be no need for a VATS bypass.

everything on the car came with the car. the only thing we changed was the motor. we kept the stock computer and wiring and all that stuff. the strater wires is whats confusing us cuz when we took them off the 305 they all broke and we cant figure out whrer they go.can someone get a picture of a 90 rs with a 305 tbi engine wiring harness and the starter pic too. with a picture we should be able to make it work. we found out the problem is the wires on the starter arent on the right way, but if there was a picture we could fix it and it would hopefully start. if all else fails, we are gonna wire up toggle switches to the fuel pump and everything else. or throw a carb on it.

PM me or post an email addy and I will scan a diagram for you. But you said you changed the computer in your first post. The VATS module will cut off the cranking via a relay and fule through the computer.
