Default Sad News....

So it happened... Last Friday morning, the Green Hornet got rear ended. Pushed the lower end of the car underneath therefore pulling the top of the hatch to the rear of the car. In other words, the whole rear end has to be replaced. (Luckily the only frame damage was the frame rails...)

Got the insurance agent to inspect it and found out its going to be approx. $4100 in repairs, $500 short of it being considered totaled.

Now to hope the body shop doesn't find additional work that needs to be done...

you have to watch those body shops, iv'e work at a few before and if its only $500 from totaling they will find something if they don't wanna do the work

In this economy, I don't know of any body shops around here that aren't looking for more work, to want to turn a job away.

Something to think about. 3rd gen bodies in nice shape can be found cheap. Your car will never be the same. Metal has a memory, after the repair even a light hit in the back can tweak the whole car. If we where talking fenders or something then who cares but with a unibody the bumper mounts, floor, and frame rails all make up the structure of the car. If you push the car hard in turns id bet you will feel the differents when its done. The back end is going to feel spongy.

I would take the repair money and buy a solid body Camaro. Then what ever was on the Green Hornet that you wanted including motor, swap out. Just throwing it out there, sorry about your ride bro.

I was reading through the posts when I found this one,and I just want to say I know how hard it would be to buy a different car and part out my Camaro. Ive put so much into it over the years I have become very attached to it. That being said I want to wish you well with your project.

Hey guys, sorry for the late response, been doing a lot of traveling lately for work so really haven't had time to check.

As for my car, the body shop I took it too has completed the car as of today, but i won't get to see it until Dec. 7th at the earliest because of work (normally it would already be in storage by now...)

I know some of you recommended that I get rid of it for a new one, but I cannot do that. This car holds more than a monetary value to me; not only has it been in my family for quite some years and its my first purchased car, some of its "design" is a dedication to some of my lost friends. So I cannot simply let this one go.

But here are some photos of the damage. I'll post completed pics also later.

How do you attach multiple attachments/photos in a thread?
