Default Running compression test. What should I expect?

Ok guys, most of you have me scared $hitless that my new 350 has a blown head gasked, cracked block, worn out rings and is infested with alien monsters, gremlins, parisites and satanic demons. I will be running a compression test and a few other diagnostics on Monday. I need to know....

1) What should my compression be on a 1977 350, bored .040 over.........

2) When I hook up the coolant pressure tester, what PSI should I go to and how long should it hold for?

3) What kind of RPM should a TH350 be running at while cruising at about 70-75 mph?

i dont know what kind of readings you should get on the compression test but for the coolant you should take it to what it says on the radiator cap and let it hold 5-10 minutes.

1)No more than a 70% difference between the highest and lowest cylinders.

2)Are there no gren and red zones on the tester gauge? Your cap is 16psi go to 16.

3)3rd gear is a 1:1 on the trans. What is your rear gears? Size tires?

I woke up for this![:@]

Tires and gears are stock, I was running about 4500 rpm @ about 75. She just sounded high, is that normal rpm at that range?

I dont know what you have stock. And you don't have an overdrive trans now. Does it shift into all the gears?
Did you mention in other posts that you were a service writer? Do you not understand the importance of giving information? Or did people just throw their keys at you and say "There is something wrong with my car fix it!"?

[:'(]Wow Mike, looks like you drank from the cranky cup this morning!

Seriously, I assumed that my other post was still fresh and my description of what happened was still around. ( I again assumed that the entire internet community only pays attention to MY car issues...) I didnt pay attention to the shifting because I was so busy watching my temp and oil pressure guage. The shifts felt fine, albeit a little rough.(modulator) I know the tranny doesnt have overdrive, but like I said, 4500 rpm at 75 just sounded high. Once I finish getting her painted and limp her home, Ill do a little more work and research........

Oh, good news, I went to the car tonight to run a pressure test to see if its a blown head gasket. (remember the whole spewing oil from the breather and tail thing) Turns out my radiator has a small leak after about 9 lbs is applied, but under that she holds.....and I pulled the PCV valve. Darn thing was closed down like a nuns butt. Hopefully a new one will solve my problem...hopefully.

I will start printing out your post so I have something to refference. It may be faster than jumping to all your post to get the info needed. You don't need to bother with putting any important informationin your post when ever you make another new one. [sm=pcwhack.gif]
And if you look at the time I posted it was the evening and I was tired from not having my nap. So There!
