Default Rocking steering column..?

So dont know why happened but while i was replacing my tranny my steering column broke loose and it now wiggles aeound everywhere, like imagine you're flying a plane and you know how the steering controls for it go up, down and side to side? well thats exactly what my steering wheel is doing.

The control for the hieght, to go up and down still work and I somewhat fixed it the other night but pushing this metal bar back into its bracket but im having a hard time getting my brights on and im pretty sure this is unsafe so anybody have any ideas on how to fix this??

thanks.

could be the column itself has broken, either internally or from its mounts. could also be a few things with the steering shaft. pictures explaining movement or even a video will be very helpful

if i remember correctly the camaro steering column is the same as the steering column in my old 88 wrangler. its a common issue for those to have these little torx screws in the column that come loose and cause an issue similar to what you are describing. i know you have to take the column apart to get to them and there are four of them but i cant remember anything more than that.
