Oh ****. Are you alright? Like, aside from the mental anguish of totaling the car..

I would have to agree, I bought this 87 IROC found it in a junk yard in the middle of nowhere sitting under a apple tree. It was previously hit in the left rear so hard it broke the back part of the sub frame above the tires. When i bought the car it came with a back half and extra t-tops.

Yah so this is how it went. I was on my way to dropping my bro off at school waiting at a stoplight. it turns green and just after the left turn is a right turn going up hill and as soon as i had the front tires out of the intersection, the back wheels loose traction and are spinning like mad. But i easily correct it and go for the right turn (which is slightly uphill, so i gas it a little more) and the same thing happens but this time, the car gets about 45 degrees clockwise, so i try to countersteer but it catches and i do a counterclockwise 180 and cross oncoming traffic sideways and slam the right nose into the guard rail and it bounces off and slams the quarter panel... as my bros head almost goes through the window.
so i changed my underwear and went to 2 body shops and both were around $5 0 0 0, so it is a Total Loss according to the insurance company. so good thing i invested in comprehensive and Collision or i would be very upset.

next week i was going to put another $1000 in mods.
My brakes are still F-ed up haha.

This time around i think ill buy a 1991 Z28 with a 350, posi, rear disc, ABS, etc. Rally Sport doesnt mean oyu can Rally it in the rain...RIP

I can not see all the damage but from what I do see with an idea of what gets damaged in an acident like that I think the body shops are kinda high. Now what you could do is let the insurance total it and pay you, buy it back, either fix it yourself or sell it. It should still run and be driveable right?

ya it drives fine, except for the brakes which i have spent $400 on including entirely new drums, and they are still messed up which was before the accident. The insurance company is going to total it and pay me, but i will not buy it back, when i bought the car, the seller was telling me it had posi and it was TPI and pretty much a z28, (but i did not pay over kelly blue book). i will not make the same mistake. ima get a 1991-1992 Z28 this time. Also i does anyone else have these tires: Sumitomo Srixon 4 235 55 R16. if so how have they done for you in the rain?

Two years ago when I wrecked my 84 Z28 the salvage was $50 on it. I bought it back! I had a lot in parts on it and when you point them out to raise the value of the car to get paid more they make note of them and want those parts to leave with the car.
If the salvage value is low enough on it buy it back and sell it for more.
And ya gotta hang on to that exhuast too.
