Past experiences with bad coils gave me either a dead coil no start, or an overheating coil that would run the engine fine when cold, but the engine would run progressively worse as it (and coil) heated up to the point of killing. If you have a spare coil from another car, toss it in for fun and see what happens. What have you tested so far?

just the things i said in my other post changed the iac and tps, still surging like crazy hot or cold, nly now i have like no idle, also checked vacuum lines and grounds , still nothing, i did notice that my heater hose was leaking right above the front cylinder on the passenger side, possible it ran down to that plug and is causing some problems??

i work at ford (where nobody knows a damn thing about old chevys) one of the techs out here told me its sounds like the plastic gear on my distributor is worn out or broken and thats causing the distributor to shift while im driving and that could be causing the surging. it sounds possible because i did the cap/rotor/plugs/wires about 3 or 4 months back and i noticed then that it shifted alittle and thought it might cause me problems in the future, any input on that?? thank you btw

im going back to carburated after this car i swear. the timing is where it should be. the weird thing is i put the old iac back in and the car was running fine but then the idle started dropping again the second time i tried to run it. but while the engine was running i popped the vacuum line on and off the egr 3 or 4 times and everytime i put it back on the car seemed to stumble, so i left it off and drove home and the car drove perfect the whole way ,had a good idle at lights no stumbling??? weird huh? bad egr maybe?
