rebuild?
hey, need to know what is better in the long run.
i can get a 350 4 bolt main from a 69 camaro but the heads need to be rebuilt $300 block $250 for iron heads no valve guides. , or
i havein my driveway a 350 from a 77 3/4 ton truck that has 200,000 on it, it was pull out last weekend
ether way ive got a holly street dom with a 600 edlebrock carb to go on. the car is a 84 z28 5 speed 3" catback and shorty headers, the car was a LG4 305 but the crank snaped after 160,000
would it cost more to do the heads off the 69 motor or should i go with what i got?
how much hp would a 77 350 truck motor have u think?

RE: rebuild?
the camaro block would surely have more power. either block is fine, but the truck motor would have to be rebuilt since it has 200000 miles. for the money it seems like the heads arent the only problem on the camaro block

RE: rebuild?
that truck block is MOST LIKELY a 4 bolt main. Strong engine. Since you have that, you could buy a rebuild kit for it and have a semi fresh motor. Depends what kind of compression you have. MIGHT need to hone the cylinders though. The truck engine will likely have more torque, but could have less horse. OR, it might have more torque and horse. I dont know for sure. I would put the truck at around 250-300 horse range mostly likely. But, with a block like that, could easy make some big power.

RE: rebuild?.
cool thanx guys. i thought the 69 350 would have hidden problems for only $300 now all i need is a ride to the store for gaskets and motor mounts
