is there an RPO code that would tell me which rear i have? its an 89 rs, but i think they put several different rears in it. Ratios i mean, i know its not a "posi" or whatever they put in the z's.

89 RS with Auto Factory stock, almost 99 44/100 of them have a 2-series open rear & 2:73 gears. RPO GU2=2:73 ratio(auto) & GU4=3:08 ratio (5-sp) only ratios on the RS, G80 is for the Limited Slip that you don't have.

 

well, i guess i got lucky or something then, the RPO G80 is on there... dont ask me how, but its there. I found GU4 and then G80... unless they decided it would be fun to fool me?

yea i dont understand it, but G80 and GU4 are both there.

but to answer your question it is a 5 speed yes

 

I have called the dealer before with the vin and got them to look up the axle ratio.

 

yea i guess i could do that. But with the RPO im gettin a 3.08 limited slip... So unless the console is out of a different car or something. thats what i got...
