Rear end conversion

Rear end conversion
I have a 1985 z28. It's a 5 speed and a one legger with drum brakes. I'm looking to change it over to posi rear and disc brakes. If a rear end from a newer camaro can be installed what years? Also, How difficult is it to change?

You could also look at 82-92 firebirds. A GTA would be a good place to look under for a Dana. I am not positive, maybe someone can confirm, but I remember reading in a magazine that the fourth gens are the same also.

Actually a fourth gen rear end will work too. They are easier to find with disc brakes. I have swapped the rear end in my car. Its pretty simple. Just unbolt the torque arm, lower control arms, the shocks, brake lines and it will drop right out. The only difference in the 4th gen rear end is that it is 2" wider. Not a huge difference and you would only be able to tell if you looked. The tires wouldn't stick out extremely bad or anything.
