Re: Need Help w/ Chassis Numbers
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to Camaro's so any insight would be welcomed.
My current problem is that I need to understand how to read the chassis number. I would like to determine the exact date of manufacture (Month and Year) using the chassis number as the car has no VIN number.
The car in partiular is chassis number CH25B 61 11289 and as far as I know is a 1991 Z28 with the 5.7L.
Any info or links would be welcomed.
Thanks,
D

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a "Chassis Number" only the VIN. I am a original owner of 87 IROC-Z and never seen or heard a Dealer Ref one, Only the VIN number is used and if your car should have one somewhere. If not you have a problem with your State getting a title & plates.
Thank you for the info.
As far as I understand, domestic cars made for export outside of northamerica or foreign car made for non northamerican markets do not have VIN numbers but they have serial/chassis numbers. Before I found this out I also thought all vehicles has VIN numbers.
Regards,
D
