this may sound dumb...but what was the 5 speed tranny that came in third gens??? i dont like my auto, but idk the name of the ones for 3rd gens

i prefer auto in mine.

 

it is a t-5? thats what i was thinking but all the ones i find are for mustangs or 4th gen v6's. and i just prefer manual i feel like i have more control over the car and its more fun to drive, im not a big fan of autos.

yep, thats the same. also availible in s10's and some 1500 pickups. tremec isnt manufacturer specific. i think the last gm manual was the saginaw 3 speed. after that, i do belive they went to outside sources

 

mustang used the t5 as well. there is a 6 speed called a t-56 thats a good bit stronger. used that in 4th gens, mustangs clear up to recently i think.., vettes, and the vipers which had the strongest version. For obvious reasons.

 

i thought ford called thier 6speed the t45.

 

you know ive seen the t45. i always thought it was a slightly different 5 speed from the t5. But it may be a 6 speed. But im almost certain that cobras and whatnot got the t56. wiki would prolly know.
