Default Question on 383 Stroker??

I just had a quick question. As posted in my other thread I am looking at purchasing a 87 Iroc-Z Z28 with a 383 Stroker. I was just curious as to what kind of Horsepower this motor has? And what kind of 0-60 times I should expect? To be honest I am looking for a vehicle that will put my brothers Ricer to shame. He has a 2007 Acura TL Type 6 which I think stock does a 0-60 in like 5.7 seconds from the factory or so im told... I know he had some modding done like exhaust and some tuning so I was hoping to find a car that would just whip the sh*t out of his car.. Thanks for any input.

How the whole engine was built will determine what its going to do. I did not read through the whole description. Plus what is the rear end ratio? That will make the difference between quick off the line or higher top speed.

But hey its American muscle that is a classic. Don't think you will ever see that acura as a collectors car like the Camaro

Does the car run? Go and drive it. You cannot build a decent 383 for much less than 5k. I've had two 3rd gen camaros and am working on a '91RS T-Topthat I've taken back to "old school" with a hei dist, 4 bl carb and mec. fuel pump, the computer now only controls the speedo and lock up of the 700R4 trans. I have a warmed up 305 in the '91 now from my '84 and an '86 350 block bolted to my engine stand I'm waiting to rebuild fom the groung up. ( yeh, just as soon as I finish my wife's home imp. projects, milk the cows and feed the pigs) point is, if you can get the 383 in your 3rd gen purchase and it works properly, I'd "go for it. " Like my Uncle Jim always said; " Buy the body", and build the drive train. If the 383 runs well and the body is "good"you've got a good foundation. Bring the guy 2-3k cash and see what you can do.
Good luck,
Roy
