i just bought a 1983 camaro. its got a 350 engine and a turbo 350 automatic tranny. i want to change it to manuel shift 5 speed. what tranny should i use? as far as i know its a stock 350 engine.

The T-5 is stock, as said above. Do you want things like your Cruise control and if you have the E4MC carb to work properly? If so you will need to swap some wiring too. You would have to get the schematics to know what needs the swapping.

Also needed would be the petal assembly, clutch MS and SS and hose, Flywheel, clutch assembly, shift linkage, maybe a new driveline or maybe just the yoke, Cut a hole in the floor of the car for the shifter, maybe a new console but prolly just the manual tranny boot and associated parts.

You can always cut corners anywhere you want but to get the job done with the least amount of trouble and qiestions I would recomend doing it like the factory did it.

great thanks guys. i got the ms and ss and petals out of another car but it didnt have the tranny in it.so i will start looking for a t5 tranny thans alot.

 

The T5 tranny was put in a lot of cars, make sure you get a T5 and bell house from a camaro. It sits at a 15 deg angle.

 

Shouldn't we know more more about what he is going to do with the car?
I say forget the 5-speed and get an M-22 4-speed.
