So I went and got a new alternator for my 88 Iroc 305 tbi 5 speed and the car starts up better than before. I now have a new problem, yesterday I was able to drive the car around the block with no problems and then today the car is either miss fireing or something, but the RPM gauge is bouncing all over the place it sounds like its choking when i give it gas ( all in Idle) and the car sounds like its about to stall out if i let it sit there running. If anyone can help me with this i wouls appreciate it. I almost got this beauty running again and this sees like a small issue.

 

Could it be my carburator hose? I jiggled it a little bit and slightly repositioned it and the car started to sound better, but when I stepped on the accelerator the RPM gauge started to bounce again.

 

sounds like youi may have a vacuum leak. a simple vacuum leak can cause all kinds of running issues. check the little stuff first before condeming any parts. a simple vacuum leak or loose ground can cause ALOT of headaches.

 

a vaccum leak? is that n e thing close to the carburator hose? I think I have to replace this hose gasket adapter, or whatever its called. the one thats in there looks worn out.. Its the one that has three small hoses attacshed to it by the two coming from close to the distrubutor and one going back somewhere behind the AC unit (not attached)
