umm it took me a couple of months sanding when i could get time between school n sports and what not, i stripped it using a DA sander started wiht 80 grit and worked my way up to 180, I used house of color paint, epoxy primer blocked it all out, white sealer, tru blu pearl shimirin, andclear coat. The main thing is to take your time sanding make sure you got it smooth cause everything will show u pwhen its got clear on. i stripped mine to the bare metal because the paint underneath was peeling and cracking, but if you have a good solid paint job already and just want a new color you just need to rough up the old stuff.

props to u man for painting your own car. i thought about doing my own when i get another car because im pretty much a perfectionist. but everyone i've talked to about it has told me not to. the thing is i don't have 2g's to drop on a good paint job and i'm not so sure about that maaco, i guess it'd be alright if i sanded the car down and primed it first.

2k on a GOOD paintjob? man youve got one hell of a deal goin on there. lol. i got mine priced at almost 4 or 5k for a factory paint job. Of course there is some rust repair and about a million little dents. maybe thats why

Nice IROC, My Camaro was garage painted also. I think the best way to get that perfect paint job and save money is to do all the prep work you self then take it down and have someone do the final paint.

yea thanks guys, but i wouldnt take my car to maaco, they dont use very good paint and they do 0 prep work just tape n spray. yea i didnt have the money to get it painted like $4500, and my paint was completly shot, so i figured what the hell it cant look any worse, ended up costin id say $750 or so.
