an ongoing problem..
so i flushed my coolant, got a new thermostat, new fan switch and new coolant temp. sensor. The temp. STILL goes up to 240 degrees before the fan kicks on! ( the fan switch is the 160-180 degree switch ) The thermostat is the 180-200 thermostat. So what next? I cleaned the radiator fins, but no improvement. My last 2 ideas are: #1 need new fan motor or #2 new gauge. Other than that, i'm out of ideas as to why my fan doesnt kick on. By the way, it doesnt kick on when the defrost is on OR the A/C is on. The fan always waits until the temp. is 240ish. [:@]

RE: an ongoing problem..
If the fan kicks on then I would not assume it is the fan motor. Since it does not come on with the a/c or defrost then check the swicth and relay. The HVAC switch supplies ground to the relay on the same circuit as the fans temp switch. Did you happen to check the ground of that temp swicth and the HVAC switch? Do you hapen to have a wire diagram that may give you a better understanding? You might find one at autozone.com in the repair section.

everyone always talks about a ground, but if there was a bad ground the switch and fan would come on whenever it wanted. my fan constantly comes on at 240. i'm thinkin about a new gauge cluster to see if its the gauge
