Default Oil Pan Question

My oil pan on my '86 iroc 305 tpi is dented pretty bad. I am restoring the car and just noticed this, it looks like someone tried to jack it up on the oil pan. It's still to the point where it holds oil and *looks* like it should function just fine. BUT, I've been told my oil pump could be damaged. Is it neccessary to unmount the motor to get the oil pan off or is there any easier way that doesn't require a whole damn week?

IMO, if the oil pressure is good, especially at high RPM, leave the thing alone. Any damage to the pump should have showed up right away.

you'll know if your oil pump is damaged just by the pressure, the pan realy has to be pushed up in to hurt the pump, the pickup will move up if its pushed against, so you have to hit the pump itself to hurt it. as far as removing the pan, its a real pain in the @ss to do it by just unhooking the motor mounts and trany mount, it can be done, but its a real pain in the @ss. i agree, unless the damage realy bothers your or your oil pressue is screwed up i would let it go.
