Default Newbie, about to buy a '90 RS

Hey guys,

My name is Ryan, and Im currently driving a 96 Honda Accord[sm=boosign.gif].. Anyway, I'm in the middle of looking at a '90 Camaro RS and was wondering if anyone might take the time to tell me the good and bad about these things. Im leaving for college in 10minutes and have to get ready or else I would definetly post what I was told to watch out for right now, but Ill do that later. Ill also get some pictures whenever Im having my local custom shop check it over.

What do you like about your Camaros? What dont you like? Any notorius problems?

Thanks guys I really appreciate it!!

PS: Currently a member at honda-acura.net forum's, and will definetly be a regular here if I purchase this vehicle!

Alternators and tilt steering bearings. Other than that, everything is pretty much the same likelyhood of breakdown as most other cars on the road. If the alt goes up, it's a ten minute swap, and make sure you get one with a lifetime warranty. Otherwise, one of the really nice things is the fact that Camaro parts are dirt cheap for stock replacement, and performance parts are still alot cheaper than any rice parts.

Thanks for the reply, class is about to start, but about the parts being cheap and stuff.. I saw that the other day whenever I was looking through the computers at work (Advance Auto Parts).

So, one of my friends told me to watch out for the 2.8's or w/e, but this is a 3.1.. also told me I wouldnt make it up a hill, lol.

Something about a steering box?

Personaly, I've never had a problem with an steering box on either of my 3rd gens, nor do I know why you wouldn't make it up a hill with a 3.1, I had a 2.8 and it had plenty of power to move the 3700 pounds of steel. Not to say it had phenomenal speed and acceleration, but it was certainly capable of moving itself along just fine.

i had a 1991 rs 3.1 and i loved it .... i had problems with my trans. if its an auto? it started to slip alittle, look out for that. the only other problem i had was with the starter... iv never had a problem with my gear box... o and about the power thing i put a racing computer k&n filter and a little exhuast work and i could keep up with 5.0 mustang. i would burn all those little honda's by the way.... and the parts are very cheap...

everyone's said it already, but yeah, parts are sweetly-inexpensive.

My starter was 45 bucks, my neighbor had to do his CRV starter, over 220. As far as performance parts, I'd price check at other locations before you buy from Advance. My former buddy used to work at an Advance, and he didn't get much from there unless he just found a good deal. And, although I have seen a video of a 9-second civic, it's not a common event. Good luck burning your former car. I'd do mine if my cammy would run.
