Default Need some opinions on a trade

I have a 1989 4x4 Chevy S10 with brand new 31" BFG's listed on CL for $2900 or trade. I had someone email me that had the following:

1983 Z28 Camaro
L69 Version
305 HO V8 - Runs good. It is his daily driver
5 speed
Edelbrook carb
Alumnum Intake
Outlaw 2 racing wheels with good tires
Clean exterior and interior.
3.73 rear end

He only provided me with a coupe tiny pics for now. This being one of them. Does this sound like a decent deal? Will this car get 15mpg city and over 20mpg highway? Does it handle good in the turns? It wont be my DD, but I would like to make some long(150-200 mile) trips on the weekends and not get 8mpg.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. With what you were asking for the S10, you might have gotten $2500 for it. So that's not a bad price for a decent Z28, if it is in decent shape. With those gears, expecting 20 mpg on the highway might be pretty close to right. 15 city, maybe if you baby it. I used to have a 91 305 RS. On a long road trip, I got 27 mpg, while averaging 80 mph. That Z28 won't get as good of mileage, with it being carbureted and having lower gears. Your driving habits will have a lot to do with gas mileage too. As far as handling, it'll handle noticeably better than the truck.

I like this deal. The L69 was a solid motor IMO. My dad has a 1983 Z28 with a LG4 305. Its a torque monster! Anyways, the thing can usually gets like 15 MPG running around here in the city.

Okay, I appreciate your opinions. I am new to Camaros so I didn't know what it was worth. Its funny, because there was a time I wouldn't have been caught dead in a Camaro, now I think its a really cool car.Surprisingly to me the truck doesn't get great gas mileage. It is probably pulling 15mpg at best. That 4.3 V6 is a bigger V6. And if I hadn't put $900 in tires on my truck I would sell it for $2100-$2300 all day.

One last important question for me. I mountain bike every couple of weekends. Will the rear seats fold down? I can remove my front tire and I am hoping it will fit in the back.

Yes, they fold down quite easily- there's a lever on the back of the seats, you can't miss it.

That said, don't expect it to free up a huge amount of space, lol. Camaros aren't cargo transports, after all~

Okay great. If they fold down I should be able to slide my mtn bike in the back with the front wheel removed. Its not a huge deal, but I wanted to be able to do it.

I'd go for it. you would be hard pressed to get 2900 for 89 s10 out by me

Yeah, If I didn't have the new tires on it I would sell it for $2100 or so. Well, I am supposed to look at it on Thursday. I'll let you guys know if I do it.

its hard to get more than $500 for an s10 of that year. sounds like a good deal. but being a t-top car, thouroughly inspect the floors from underneth the car. if you can, get it up a bit higher and check the subframe as well as floor, and for any major leaks. but a v8 and 5 speed, its a very saught after combo

Thanks. I thought the V8 and 5 speed combo was kinda cool. He said the t-tops don't leak, but that they are broken and are hard to remove. He said something about a metal piece being broken.
