Default Need some advice.

So, i have an 89 iroc rs camaro 5speed 350... it needs a handful of TLC. it has a brand new transmission and new clutch but once i replaced that my egnition broke. my steering wheel one day decided to fall? so we went to a junk yard and replaced it, however the original steering wheel had a pull to lock and the new one is just an auto lock? BUT THE LOCK IS UPSIDE DOWN. so when you turn the car on it wont turn off because it wont let you turn the key. so my husband tried to fix it and ended up shattering my plastic egnition. so we bought a new one and then my purse got stolen so i have to re-key the egnition AND the door. lovely. well, my dash is cracked (but alot better than any other dashes ive seen for an 89) my interior is ...well..,. hell. the guy who "refurbed" it before i bought it obviously didnt know what he was doing. the floor panel is rusting out (suprised my foot hasnt gone through yet) my ttop seals leak. my rpm gauge wont work after 80 mph and i have no idea how many miles are on it because thats broken too. but it runs... besides the steering wheel delemma as of late....

now, the advice i need is that i have located a very beautiful yellow camaro VERY FAST Z28 CAMARO V8 5SP MUST SEE T TOPS BRIGHT YELLOW CAMARO!!!!!
on craigs list, its an 84. its got a v6 and 350 engine, is supposedly newly rebuilt. but last time i believed that i ended up having a piston rod shoot through my transmission and be out 500.00 for a new tranny (and thats not including labor and also including some MAJOR discounts on parts as my husbands father has his own shop) ...when i called they stated that the car was in great condition, no rust...blah blah blah.
now, i am 19. im still learning about cars so dont feed me a bunch of french i wont understand.

A. how much would YOU say that the yellow car would be worth according to pictures and what ive advised, as i believe the dealership is highballing me.
B. i also autocross. i hope you all know what that is. I dislike 90 and up of camaro body styles, but what would be your opinion as far as what a good daily driver would be in year and what a good autocross competition car would be? my husband owns a suby wrx right now and we autox in that so its not pertinant i have a camaro to autox but it would be nice to show them kids what a girl can do in some good old american muscle.
C. can someone help me understand what GOOD parts are so that i dont get jacked around? ive loved camaros since i was 9 years old. but my father lives a ways away and my husband hates american cars... so i need someone willing to teach.

anyway feel free to give me advice tips or what have you in reply to forum or by email annastasiabright@gmail.com

(oh and another question, 305 is stock, would it take less to maintain than a 350? i make a decent living, but come on. im 19. )

Welcome to the forum, post up your questions in the 3rd gen tech section. You won't get much advice in the intro section.

Hello and welcome. I think the yellow car looks Pretty good. I looked a long time for my car and I saw very few 3rd gens in that shape. I am not sure on price because even though you can tell a lot from the pictures they dont tell everything. My advise if you are not well versed in cars is to have a mechanic or gearhead you trust look at anything before you buy. If that is not possible then ask for records of the work. Who did it and when. I know there are a lot of good weekend wrenchers out there but there are also some bad ones so be cautious of independent work. Another good question to ask is why the owner didnt want it anymore.

Thats all I got. Hope it helps and good luck.
