okay so my wipers do not work i bought the new motor and it still didn't work i checked all the plugs and they were fine so i kept messing with it and i could tell it wasn't the switch because when you turned it the wiper motor would make the click but nothing would happen but then i kept messing with it and they randomly started working but then would not turn off and the motor started smoking

somebody tell me wtf this means

 

maybe the arms got bent? or the arm is hung up on something

 

if the linkage is not jamed like nj says then it sounds like a shorted wire or the switch is bad. turn it on and see if u are getting juice to the plug that goes to the wiper motor.
