thats a tough one man. sounds like a short in the steering column. I had a similar problem with my truck except it was the cruise and the horn for me. had to get the column rewired to solve it.

took it to a professional. one of the things I hate more than anything in the world is an electrical problem in a vehicle. I have a friend that owns a shop here in town and after I just couldnt figure it out I took it to him and he figured it out. sorry, I know thats not much help.

If it's starting the engine, check the smaller wire at the starter with a meter or test light while someone else turns the key to start. If nothing, start tracing that wire back and probe it to see if it's live further up the line (could be a break), and clean the connections at the starter. Could also be a bad connection at the bulkhead connector (big square screwed on plug) on the firewall. Or, could be the ignition switch is bad or out of adjustment. The "switch" is mounted on top of the steering column down near the firewall, the key is just a tumbler that slides the switch with a rod. Oh, and your security light in the dash isn't on is it? That would be the VATS disabling the ignition.
Now if your problem is that most everything acts dead with the key on, that still could be the ignition switch, or could be a bad main wire or fusible link that leads from the battery to the fuse panel, or again the bulkhead connector.

Tryin to start the engine ..and no security light is on but wen i turn key it does seem like everything is dead then wen i turn key to off posution thats wen the dash lights side marker and front hazard lights start flashing and make a beep noise but on the driver side under the hood fender theres a small box that clicks andso i snipped those wires to try and see if that was the problem it wasnt but... i heard another clicking noise near the firewall .. but this happened to me last week but after a while the car finally came on after i kept tryin it

Sounds like you may have a bad battery connection, or a (lacking) ground issue. I'd clean and check everything battery connection related first.

1987 87 CAMARO SHOP SERVICE MANUAL OVER 1200 PAGES | eBay
1987 CHEVY CHEVROLET CAMARO Service Shop Repair Manual SET FACTORY 87 DEALERSHIP | eBay
one is just electrical
the $60 one has the shop and the electrical manual
call it an investment and you should own one if you plan on doing any repairs yourself
You wouldn't try to use your fingers to loosen a lug nut so invest in this tool as well
