i have a 91 camaro rs with the 305 with a roller cam. just the other day i was beat n a race twice by a friend of mine who has an 85 camar z28 now i was just wondering what i could do to make my car have more hp. it came stock with 170 horses and 255 ft.lbs of torque. and his camaro has 155 horses and 200 ft. lbs of torque any suggestions would be appreciated

 

Get rid of the 305 tbi, and put a 350 carbed motor in...

 

whats your budget? you can always do the 350 swap, but more like it would be a good set of headers and full exhaust. what transmission do you have?

 

or put a set of gears in it

 

Open up the airflow if you haven't already. K&n filters, headers,intake alone will make a huge differnce and not cost too much.

 

I did all that and a few other light mods like dialing in and tune the q-jet and other small things and my 84 305 had way more get up and go than my 91 TBI

 

Bottom line, tbi sucks for power. Now more realistic if the swap is not for you, as it was mentioned get an open element air cleaner, nice set of headers, bigger TB... Not much else really to do to a tbi motor.

 

For bang for the buck, NOTHING beats a rear end gear swap. I learned this after I put a carb and headers on my 305....still not happy.......

Then I did the 305 to 350 swap.............big difference, but when I went from a 2.77 to a 3.73 rear end........wooooo boy that was huge.
