Hi Do all of these cars run hot???

Yeah, off spring would have to be put down.

Anyway 71, what do you you mean by hot? The factory switch won't kick the fan on till 225*. That's hot! How about when you are on the highway? What is your temp?

Well... if i dont drive it like a lil old lady this thng is up in the red all th time, i put a aftrmrkt 160* thrmost, put a new temp sensor on th intake,...and th fan is workng! maybe i hav to put an aftrmrkt dual fan setup...?

What year is your car? What engine? Camaro? Firebird? What climate do you live in?
I would stop driving it if your needle goes into the red all the time. Don't drive it if it gets that hot, or you will be dealing with cracked heads, blown gaskets.. My sage advise would be park it till you figure this out.

is it boiling over into the overflow tank? If not, it's not overheating and your gauge is hokey

If so, do you have the air dam? The air dam is very very important on 3rd and 4th gens as well as vettes

I was also thinkin the gauge might not b acurate...it is missing the airdam underneath

I have noticed that my engines run a little cooler on hot days when I have the fan running while I am on the highway. Air dam + electric fan.

I would check out third gen ranch. (thirdgenranch.org). Lots of parts like this, and modestly priced. I have seen air dams for sale quite often on their web page.

Running the fans at speeds over 35mph dose nothing for cooling on the highway.
