Default motor Help

hey so im looking at getting a 1987 camaro, but the motor needs alota work, i was kinda just thinking of droping a new one in her. I now were i can get a 3.9L v6 (no trans) from a 1993 Dodge Dakota and i was wondering if that would bolt up with the mounts and the stock tranny? Or will any V6 from any other chevy fit this car?

thanks

It would be more work to get that little dodge motor in your Camaro that it would be worth. How much work does the current engine need. They really arent that hard to get working, plus you have all of us here in the forums to help you out. If you arent into doint it yourself I would say another GM product before a dodge.

thats what i thougth, I honestly dont know how much and what is wrong with the motor, its my buddys car right now but im planning on buying it from him. when i talked to him last he said something about it overheating and then stalling, then un able to start for about 10-15 mins. Also the motor has overheated so much that the gauge just stays at max temp. Also befor i buy it im planning of towing it to work (canadian Tire) and having then run a diagnoseis on it, to tell me whats wrong then deciding what going to happen. Any ideas on whats wrong?

belive me man, i thought of that but i cant really aford a 350 right now(gas is to much). My plan was to take the Irock or Z28 body and put it on my Sport Coupe Berlinetta. then deal with what motor would go in there. I was just going to get this little v6 running, drive it and then decide on whats going in. If i were to get a 350 from the wreakers, and i pulled it from a truck what else would i need? Should i get a tranny from that same truck or could i use the stock camaro tranny? If thers a new tranny going in then will in need a new rear end? what are the parts that i would need to do that swap properly?

thanks

if it's been so hot so many times the guage is hung at hot, that engine is toast , more than likey it has blown head gaskets and cracked heads now, i say stay away and find something better.
