Maro jerks left when I brake

Hey Guys i'm reallly new at this. But my new 84 maro jerks left when I break. Anyone know what would cause a car to do that. I'm a network engineer(computers) not a real engineer.

Now if it were to have some thing to do when you stop or brake them it may be a sticking calliper. One calipers piston may not be going back far enough and is that much closer to the rotor so when you Brake it has less to travel than the other side. Or one side is not working as well as the other. But with a hard jerk I would think it is a caliper sticking.
Also at times the rubber hose will collapse inside and not allow fluid to go back. But that will usually end up making a calliper stick and feel like that brake is constantly applied.

For mechanics the test to see if a brake caliper is binding is to drive 30-40 MPH on a straight flat road let go of the steering wheel and pump the brake petal 3 times. If the car continues straight the calipers are working correctly.A rotor will not cause a hard pull one way or the other although the shaking the rotor would cause could cause the car to wander.
+1 on what mike said, because of the age the hoses that feed the calipers theyshould be replaced. If it was my car I would rebuild the calipers and replace the hoses.
BTW: please note my complete lack of participation in the grammar war. Me getting into a grammar war would be about the same as taking a 84 Escort with an automatic transmission to a drag race. I would get booed for tying up the track too long

But at least I did lend an answer to the OP's question. I see you had nothing but smart A$$ comments to say.

Stainless Steel braided brakehoses are a great replacement. They don't buldge under hard braking and will give you a more solid feel to the brakes.
As stated by everyone else, its either calipers or hoses. Calipers are cheap, hoses are too. Do the entire job for less than 100 bucks (including new pads). Its very simple. I wouldnt spend the money on SS braided line. Regular hoses are fine. If you need one of us towalk you thru it, let us know.
