Magic Hood Light?

Default Magic Hood Light?

So i was closing the hood to my camaro today and i noticed the light turn off. my natural curiosity said "hey lets find the switch to turn off the hood light and play with it."

well i never found any type of a switch! im sure i missed something

How do the lights under the hoods of third gen camaros switch on and off?

i looked at the wire going to the light and there was only one, so it must be grounded to the hood, is the a way the hood only grounds when its open???

really? how? the only thing i could figure out would be some kind of tilt sensor kind of like whats on an alarm but now i lost lol

Yes you are right. It is like a tilt switch in an alarm system. It uses mercury to create the connection and tell the light when to turn on and off. Dont try to mess with it. THAT STUFF WILL KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have one and I dont use it. It has been disconnected since I got the car!!!!!!!!!!

a little mercury wont hurt you. ive touched it before. large amounts can poison you. but a little wont hurt you if it doesnt get in you.

I always thought it was the same dudes that hide in the fridge to turn the light on and off. Didnt even think of a switch.

small amounts of mercury are only dangous when its heated and inhaled....

Those of you that eat bottom feeding sea food are eating mercury. I think its really high in shrimp. [:'(]
