Default Magic Hood Light?

So i was closing the hood to my camaro today and i noticed the light turn off. my natural curiosity said "hey lets find the switch to turn off the hood light and play with it."

well i never found any type of a switch! im sure i missed something

How do the lights under the hoods of third gen camaros switch on and off?

i looked at the wire going to the light and there was only one, so it must be grounded to the hood, is the a way the hood only grounds when its open???

Yes you are right. It is like a tilt switch in an alarm system. It uses mercury to create the connection and tell the light when to turn on and off. Dont try to mess with it. THAT STUFF WILL KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a little mercury wont hurt you. ive touched it before. large amounts can poison you. but a little wont hurt you if it doesnt get in you.

I always thought it was the same dudes that hide in the fridge to turn the light on and off. Didnt even think of a switch.
