Default LT1 or LS1

Im new here. But this is my 2nd 3rd gen. ive owned. Its a 91 RS 3.1. I bought it off a friend who didnt have time to put in to it. I think I stole it for $500.00 It has 250,00 miles on it. 1 owner. The body is mint, the interior could have a little help. Brand new tires, brakes, wires, plugs, cap and rotor. I want to drop a new engine into to it. I dont know if i should go with a LS1 or an LT1. Maybe you all can help me with that. Or if you think I should go with something else. Maybe get a 350 turbo tranny? But does anyone know if ill have to shorten or add to drive shaft? Any help would be great thanks guys. Glad to be part of this forum

i think it depends on what kind of transmission u get if u will to replace the drive shaft...and u will defently have to get a new transmission if u plan on put a lt1 or ls1 in your car... sounds sweet... wish i had the cash flow to do something like that 2 my car

Does this sound like a really good deal? or do you think that i could piece together a stronger engine for around the same price if i do a little shopping around. Im looking at somewhere around $7500.00 as a budget. But i was hoping to get a little more than just the engine done for that price.

An LS! will shread your transmission in no time. Put a new trans in if you plan to use an LS1. You will probably have a host of problems fitting accesories and such to it, too, but it will fit and run with that kit you listed. You make need/find it hard to find a new bellhousing that adapts.

An LT1 will also give it fits but not as much and will fit a lot easier.
