i currently own a 93 z28, but dont know much about 3rd gens, it is a 89 rs, body is straight but owner says engine knocks but runs strong, but that doesnt make sense to me, is asking 600, can you fix an engine knock ?

 

V6 or 8? It would most likely be a complete engine rebuild or exchange. If its the 6 it is a 2.8. Not that desirable. IMO not worth dealing with the 6. Small block V8s though are common and inexpensive depending on what you want to put in there. But if you dont want to work on it dont expect the knock to go away. Some people dont know what "runs strong" is.

 

Don't buy it unless it is at least a 305. The knock can go away with a $320 rebuild kit from summit (includes new pistons). You might not even need that but you won't know untill you break it down. Since you have another car now is the perfect time to do this. For the money, the car would be a steal. Keep us posted. Good luck...

well its only a v6 and the guy says it wont start but originally told me it runs strong, the car has 176,000 miles on it and has never been rebuilt, so im gonna pass on it

 

Tell him you will take it off his hands for $100. And he has to give that to you in cash!

 

Don't buy someone else's headache!!! Stay away from this one. Especially with that many miles on it.
