Lil Help?
Hey I have a 88 305 v8 perfect condition...was thinking of selling and trying to get an iroc 350 but was wondering if it would be better to either do an engine swap or just add a bunch of mods? I dont know that much about how to do it so any help would be appreciated
oh haha well your not going to get much out of that 305 unless you want to spend a whole lot lol. Also, unless you have someone that is willing to help with the knowledge of swapping out a new one i would steer away from that. But, if you do then i would go with a crate engine. Best bang for your buck and you can get the power you want.
Unless you get drastic on that 305, you will never be happy with it. Drop in a 350 or get another car. I tinkered with my 305 a bit and eventually bit the bullet and did the swap. An engine swap is not all that complicated, by the way. More intimidating than anything else.
It really depends what you want out of the car. Even the iroc-z didnt have MUCH power factory but you can get a bit more out of them without to much work or money. Do you have an RS or Z28?
An RS unfortunately, I mean I guess I could get headers new exhaust and maybe a supercharger or turbo? idk if thats possible but the bottom line is I want more than I have an 10-12 second car would be nice
haha yea. youll at least want a 350. and a STOUT 350 at that. Dont forget driveline upgrades, the stock tranny and rear wont hold up to the power it takes to achieve times like that. Subframe connectors will help, and a roll cage will help just that much more. Not a full blown one, just like a 8 point or so.
