Default Keeps Breaking Flywheel

I have a 92 RS, I swapped the stock 305, For a rebuilt Vortec 305, And it keeps breaking the flywheel around the mounting bolts, I've been through about 10 now, And have to replace it AGAIN this weekend, I'm at my wits end, Any help would be appreciated

what brand flywheel are you using, and are you using the correct one for that engine year? some are peticular to model year and what vehicle they came from. are you torquing it in the correct sequence and to spec?

Can't remember what brand, I've bought so many, I've even tried the heavy duty but, They still break, This one lasted about 2,000 miles, I've followed the manual on torque & sequence, And even replaced tranny, Could heat be an issue

Nothing unusual, It's a daily driver, But I'm missing my air dam, Will pick one up tomorrow, But right now it runs around 220, And if you turn on the A/C, The temp goes through the roof

nah, that wouldnt cause it. i could see maybe constant drag racing it would cause it to break. is there any other issues with the car, any vibrations? what year was the engine you swapped in? what did it come out of?

The motor came out of a 96 GMC truck, According to the casting number, I don't notice anything vibrating, And I don't race it, But I have a 22 year old son, So who knows

something is a bit screwy, but i bet it has to do mostly with your son. im 20, so i know how people my age like to drive. i would take a look around then for a high performance flywheel from www.summitracing.com it should pretty much be the same flywheel for either year, but look them both up to be safe, or ask one of their techs. for the amount of money and time youre spending fixing it, it would be worth it. heck, you could throw a lightweight aluminum flywheel in there and gain a bit of performance while youre at it

Are you talking about an actual flywheel (manual trans), or a flexplate (automatic)?
I only ask because some mistakenly refer to a flexplate as a flywheel.

You have been thru 10 of these plates? On a stock 305? Something is installed wrong or you are using the wrong part. There is no way in hell you have gotten 10 bad plates or you son has managed to wreck ALL of them. Something isnt put together correctly. I wish I could help pinpoint the problem. Have you checked to see if the Vortec engine is supposed to run a different plate? I know a SBC is supposed to be pretty universal, but this may be one of the small differences.
