If i put heads off 305 IROC-Z on 1990 RS will it add power im stock with 170HP i need more maybe 300

 

300 seems to be a popular goal to reach for the 305. it can be done. But the 305 tbi heads are the worst flowing heads for power. The tpi heads will be a pretty decent upgrade.

 

Good so they wont lower my compression or anything and give me some examples of cars or trucks with the heads i need so i can go junkyarding

 

to MY knowledge,,, the 305 tpi iroc... obviously, im sure the heads are on more than just that car, but i dont know what on. Snag some impala ss heads if you can.

 

Will my stock exhaust fit on 350 heads and if so its easy take off old heads and mount new one on right?

 

easy? depends on your experience, since you are asking, you have never done it. If its a stock 305 with all the emissions its gona be a time consumeing thing, not TOO hard, but very time consumeing. The exhaust will fit, but i recoment getting new exhaust. Bigger pipes to let it breath a little better.

 

from what i know, the heads are exactly the same. i think all 305 heads are the same spec wise, except for the difference with centerbolt and perimeter bolt styles

 

I have 3 inch Magna flow put on and it sounds great for a 305 so far and goes like a scalded cat, i just want to get parts from junkyard and dont really know what im looking for.Id like maybe 350 heads,headers,and put a TPI instead of TBI which i have now and manifold and maybe ill hit 300 HP-Do you think so-and will 350 heads work or will it mess the compression up? the TPI heads will flow better. they are different

 

So i'll get some TPI heads,some dressed up covers,TPI and what kind of manifold would be best?
