Default I need help im totaly lost

Ok i bought a 1991 chevy camaro rs with the 3.1 liter. and im totaly lost

i can not get the car to run longer then 15-30 seconds... it was not running when i got it but supposedly was running a few weeks ago.
the guy i got it from only put 4000 miles on it in about 4 years so im sure one of the issues is stale gas but i cant even get it running enought to back it outa the garage much less put fresh gas in it.

his mechanic said it needed a new distributor and he had replaced the computer with a junyard one.

list of what i have done..

replaced the distributor (checked for 180 out)
replaced coil
replaced cap
replaced rotor
replaced wires
replaced fuel filter (old one seams clear)
replaced the computer (kept old prom)

i cant even keep the car running long enough to check the timing properly

i can hear the fuel pump in the rear

should i check the fuel pressure?
is the pump an item that can be done in 6 hours in a driveway or am i better off paying to get that done?
am i totaly off the mark

with the junyard comp and the new one i cant go by codes a

any help would be apprecated

check fuel pressure, or check for a clogged cat. remove the 02 sensor and hook up a pressure gauge to see if there is a restriction. if nothing, check the oil pressure sending unit. the computer needs to see oil pressure to keep the fuel pump on, or shuts off after about 30 seconds.

Yeah, I second the oil pressure... get that checked out, cuz if it's low the thing WILL cut off the motor to prevent damage done to it.

The oil pressure could be OK, but if the oil pressure switch is bad it will also cause the pump to lose power.

Default still working

i am in the navy and im in and out to sea alot i am still working on it. i did find several other minor items that need attention when i am in there. i do have a new question. i removed the fuel injection system to ensure it was not cloged. since i went that far in i decided to go ahead and repalce the valve cover gaskets. when i removed them i noticed that the valves are diffrent shades any clue whats going on here????
