Default How much play should torque arm have?

My 88 v6 5spd manual trans Torque arm bushing has some play in it. I grabbed it at the bushing with both hands and was able to move it up and down 1/2" with reasonable force. Is this acceptable or is it worn. Visually it looks intact but I don't know how tight it should be? Thanks for any replies.

Default RE: How much play should torque arm have?

hey i had a 87 camaro 5 speed. i was drivn one night and ran over a big piece of firewood and it lifted my car off ground.i looked under to see if any damage and didnt notice any right away. well one day my mom was drivn it and as she was turnin through traffic light the torque arm broke in half and dugg into concrete almost makin her lose control.anyways i had to put new one on and can tell u that the rubber on mine was eaten up by transmission fluid leakin on it and over time made loose. the new bracket isnt that expensive i believe.i also think that the arm should be fairly snug .thought that might help
