Unhappy how to deal with....

I am curently 17 years old. I have been into cars ever since i was a little kid. Im looking into purachasing a 3rd gen camaro i have already found a car but have to wait to the end of the summer to buy it. The car is goign for 1000$ and is in alright shape. The only problem is my Mom, she hates the idea, my dad dosent really mind. My mothers only argument is that she dosent like the car.I told her i wanted a project that i could work on so i could learn more about cars. I also live 20 mins from a track and i really want to start racing. I have some one to help me with the car, now all i need is a car to work on.

If you were in my poision what would you do to convince your mom to let you buy a car.

Also what are some of the problems with owning a third gen comaro?

Whatever you do;Don't mention racing... Mothers tend to shelter their young. And no offense, but your young. And job idea is good too.Don't lead her to think you just going to sink all your hard earned money into the car either. Not a good idea. And good luck

the main problems seem to be:

1. the factory subframe connectors will crack and cause the chassis to shift by small amounts.
2. the wiring will start going bad, but it's an old car so that's kinda expected
3. if it's a 2.8 car, they are well known to stretch connecting rods, at least on the manual trans cars. (the 3.1 was giving stronger rods to deal with this problem)

tell her if you get a car you really want you will treat it much better than a car you are gonna settle for , and save the race talk for your dad mom's hate that stuff.

Either man up, tell her you want it, and aint NOTHIN she can do to stop it so she might as well get with it!
Or just be a punk and let her talk you into getting a nice little 1990 Honda CRX or something......or a subaru forester...or a VOLVO

*OR*
wait until you turn 18, then you're a grown a$$ man and can do what you want! At that point you will not have to worry about Mother approval!
