Default Horn button/switch?

Ok... so im tryin to install a horn switch in my camaro (89 camaro, v8) so i can get it through inspection. Now im not much for electronics, so i might sound dumb here.. Whenever i put the horn assembly thing back in the steering column, it will go off randomly and when i turn or hit a bump, so i figure its a short in the column somwhere... but im not that bright... anyway, i could careless about that... i took a part of the dash off under the column and i want to put in a little switch that i can use to make the horn go off just so i can get it through inspection... now i see two fatter wires (one black and one orange) going into the column. Are these two wires for the horn? any help getting this switch hooked up would be good

all you gotta do to get it through inspection is run 1 wire from the battery and 1 wire from the horn itself. run both wires into the car and land each on a momentary contact switch. they have them at any parts store. ive had to do this at least 10 times to get cars through inspection, just tell the inspector where the button is.

Yea that makes sense... I have it rigged now with a screwdriver to go off so i dont think its a short anymore, i think its just the assembly that is broke somewhere... like if i push the screwdriver up to make contact the horn goes off fine... so i wanna try and get it through inspection like that but i dont know if it would be legal.
