Default Hood for my 87

Alright I have a 1987 Camaro IROC Z28. I am in the process of fixing it. I'm doing a engine swap to a proformance 383 Stroker, A TCI Turbo 350 trans, I got a Moser 9in rear end... But enough about what I am doing... This is what I want. I am trying to shed some weight by getting rid of the old heavy steel hood. I would like to get a Carbon Fiber flat hood. I don't really like the look of the big cowl induction hoods. So does anyone know somewhere I can find a carbon fiber flat hood. I have been searching forever. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Talk to the site sponsor Extreme Dimensions. They've got some nice products and were recently running a special, you may be able to get in on it.

Unless you are STRIPPING this car bare, shedding some weight wont make any noticeable difference. Dont believe me? Go for a ride with your average adult friend. (Lets say 160 lbs) Now kick him out and go drive....I bet the car feels exactly the same to you.....

I agree with you on this but the stock hood I have is rusted so I need to replace it anyway. So I figured might as well get something lighter since I am replacing it anyway.

I agree with scott. Be careful what you end up getting, unless it is a really high end model it will more than likely not line up right and the body guy will have a lot of hours getting all things right. I also have a high performance stroker motor in my 87 and I used a drop base aircleaner and re routed the fuel line and brake booster line so the air cleaner would drop. It barely fits. Unless you have a very high manifold a hood mod shouldn't be necessary. I was prepared to have the two lines on each side of the hood cut and some metal leaded in. My body guy has done that and said it is was slicker looking than a cowl.
