Hey! No airbag to the face please!
So hey im new to this site. Pretty badass so far! I have a 91 Camaro rs with a 305. Not much to look at but its not to slow. Have cragar street stars on it. Flowmasters. My question is that I am replacing my broken steering wheel with a grant. I already have it AND the installation kit. The stock steering whell on there does have an airbag in it. Can someone lease tell me how I need to go about disarming the airbag and any other electrical componets before this installation? If I need to pull a fuse for the airbag I need to know EXACTLY which one since I don't own a repair manual. Greatly appreciate the help. Thnx.

RE: Hey! No airbag to the face please!
Disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the SIR fuse in the fuse block, and remove the knee bolster (the plastic stuff directly under the steering column, there are 5 torx screws holding it in). After that is out, you should see a ton of wires and the steering column. Look about halfway down the steering column and you should see a big yellow wire with a connector on it (it is also yellow). Pull the green holder out and then disconnect the yellow connector. Now the air bag is disconnected. Sick

That would be the one in the drivers side cab fuse block labled SIR, stands for Supllemental Inflatable Restraint. I'm fairly sure it's a 20 amp, but it's been a while since I did anything to the airbag system on mine, and I don't have a wiring diagram handy.
