305 or V6? Could be your fuel pump is giving out. Have you checked fuel pressure, or tried starting the engine after priming it with a little gas down the TB?

Don't forget the VATS System if you have a key with a chip on it

sounds like a vats issue to me. read the stickies on how to disable it, and do it now while it still works

Its not the fuel pump. Im thinking VATS too. I put the key in and turn it and all my dash lights come on, sterio, etc. but doesnt turn over. Will putting a new switch in fix the problem?

My friend just had to bypass vats on his daughters 96 trans am. Same thing, they thought it needed starter, was just vats. Cost 10 bucks to bypass with resistors from Radio Shack. Do search on forum for fix, that's what they did.

If it is the VATS, you should be able to start it after 10 minutes. If so, then replacing the ignition cylinder is a better way to go. A loose key/switch connection will trigger the vats and disable the car for 10 minutes. A standard cylinder won't do. It needs the wire connection for the vats, but can be bought at most auto parts stores. You will need to get key blanks at a dealership. They will need your old key to measure the resistance. Any key shop can cut them to match the non resistor key that comes with the lock. Sure you could just bypass the vats, but then you have no vats.
