Default Help identifying parts

Hey guys Ive been trying to fix up my 86 berlinetta this summer. Got the motor pulled and while im having one built in the shop im trying to fix some functions on the car. I need some help/info about the air conditioning system. I cannot get the the blower motor or fan speeds to work at all. I know the blower motor works when I put power to it and it blows strong but the wiring seems mesed up. On the blower motor there is two wires that connect too it, a purple wire and a black wire. the purple wire has no power and the black which I thought would be the ground has voltage running through it. It is almost like they are backwards. The ac controls do not light up at all windsheild wiper controls work though. Ive pulled almost all the wiring harnesses and ecm and relays from under the dash on passenger side. The onle thing I could not pull is a black box that has vaccum lines and a wiring harness that looks like the same color wires as the ones that come from the ac pod when I unplug the wiring harness from the box the ac pod controls light up and I can select a function and it will make a hummning noise from what u think is the ac relays in another box in the wiring harness. Could anyone identify the box under the pass. Side dash that has vaccum lines and wiring going into Its pretty small can hold with one hand but I cant u.do the screws that hold it in place?
